However while we are busy working on our review of the first episode of season 3, I wanted to share with you something I did recently for one of the other podcasts I work on, The Signal.

The Signal has a section called Broadwaves, where crew members get to review pretty much anything they are a fan of which is not related to Firefly and Serenity. In a recent episode I provided a spoiler free review on Being Human. If you are interested head to Season 7, Episode 12 and fast forward approximately 30 minutes. So the weekend is here and that means that Season 3 is only a couple of days away for us folks in the UK.

So to get you in the mood the generous folks over at The Sun Buzz Magazine shared the following quotes from the cast, and guest star of the show Lacey Turner, previously of EastEnders fame, with us to share with you…

Annie [What can we expect for Annie this series] “Annie finds love.  I must say I didn’t see it coming, but the rest of the cast saw it a mile off.”

[What was it like filming in Wales for the first time?] “There was a rumour the set was haunted.  I still wonder if there were crew members who I saw that nobody else did.”

Mitchell [Is there any romance on the cards for him?] “In the first episode, Mitchell meets a host called Lia [played by guest star Lacey Turner].  She helps him find Annie, who’s in purgatory.  After he saves her, Annie sees Mitchell as her knight in shining armour.”

George [What’s it like getting into werewolf mode?] “The worst bit is the contact lenses.  It’s like putting dustbin lids on your eyes.  I also find hairy glue on the back of my neck a week later.”

Nina [Did you enjoy working with this series’ guest stars?] “Yes, especially Robson Green.  He was my first TV crush.  When I met him in the make-up truck during filming, I got all hot and bothered.”

Lacey Turner [...there’s trouble when ex-EastEnder Lacey Turner pops up as a ghost, and delivers a devastating prophecy that threatens to tear the four friends apart forever].  “This was my first job since EastEnders…I had most of my scenes with Aidan Turner and he was fantastic.”

Also have you seen this, BBC3 Press Release, seems to indicate that Series Three is already on the cards, although depending on your perspective you may view this release as a spoiler, you have been warned!

Now I would upload my photos but to be honest they are not great, my little camera phone did not do the event justice so instead I recommend you check out @bbcbeinghuman the BBC Being Human teams Twitter feed which contains some great images. Also checkout BBC THREE PRESENTS BEING HUMAN LIVE which contains some great video from the evening.

Unfortunately I didn’t see much of Lenora and Aidan but I did get to meet Russell and Sinead. Sinead is awesome, if you don’t follow @SineadKeenan on Twitter you must. She really took the time to talk and interact with the fans and I really want to thank her again for that, utter complete and total pleasure to meet her…

So what can I say about Episode One, well obviously not much as I don’t want to spoiler anyone, however as expected it’s a lot darker than Series One, but still has that ability to go from the depths of darkness to full on comedy sitcom and back again in a few minutes… I absolutely loved it. I really think it sets the tone for the series to come, and just like the episodes in Series One I cannot believe how much the pack into one episode. Arrrggg want to say more… Will do after Sunday

All I will say is that you won’t be disappointed…

Secondly after much confusion and dates being announced and then retracted the BBC have again announced the air date for Season 2, it will be on BBC3 on the 10th January from 9:30pm.

Plus if that was not enough if you’ve not seen the Ivan and Daisy promo, Ivan and Daisy you need to do so, it’s awesome. It really adds to the feeling that the BBC have raised their game for series 2, which given how great the first series is, is no small thing for them to have done.

You can really feel the excitement building now. Under month to go and I can’t wait…

Being Human Series 2

The BBC’s press office have announced that series 2 will air on BBC3 on Sunday the 10th January… Can’t wait!!

Also good luck to any of you like me who are waiting to see if we got tickets for the screening on the 7th…

New press release today for Being Human Series 2 it seems now that the show is unplaced… So wait and see again, even more reason to hope for tickets to the 7th Jan airing…

Well time to start saving…

Well last week Suzi and I recorded Episode Two. However sadly my dog died earlier this week which obviously threw my schedule in the air. I’m still sad and we all miss her, but I’m starting to get back on top of things.

So don’t worry it’s recorded and once I finish the edit it will be posted, hopefully by mid next week at the latest.

Essentially this is a very old English tradition, mainly consisting of a bonfire on which an effigy of Guy is burned normally accompanied by fireworks. It is also where the word guy, meaning a man, comes from in modern language.

Now maybe this will be awesome, we should all be careful not to judge what we haven’t yet seen. Plus if it drives more global fans to view the original BBC show then all the better.

Obviously I have concerns as let’s face it other conversions of UK shows to the US have not always been huge successes!

My issue here is more about what’s the point of doing this. Firstly it’s not as if the BBC have stopped making the show, to some extent the BBC have only really just got started with it so there is plenty still to come. Secondly the demographics that watch shows like this are generally pretty tech savvy, they are the people that are fully aware of the differences between the UK and US versions of shows. The world has gotten smaller; Europe and the US are aligning far more than ever before when it comes to the things we like, (take the recent growth and popularity of European small vehicles in the US as example of this). So whereas in the past there were some solid cultural reasons for remaking shows, I really don’t think they apply anymore.

If SyFy have money to spend why don’t they create something new and original, in fact if they wouldn’t mind buying and wrapping up ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ that would be appreciated, well by me anyway, oh and a few more seasons of Firefly would be good.

So as I said, until I see it I don’t mind them doing it, I’m not all outraged, just more bemused as to how anyone would think this a good idea…
